The Dublin High School Sources of Strength team completed a bullying prevention video project during their 2014 fall semester. It was shown several times in the cafeteria each lunch period for several days. All of the students and teachers had an opportunity to view the video several times. They enjoyed watching the students who participated but this project afforded the watchers multiple reminders of the message of bullying prevention; why bullying happens; and what the bully, the bystander, and the victim can do in response.
We hope you enjoy the video!

On Tuesday October 25th, 2011, the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Dublin/Laurens County held a Memory Launch to honor the memory of loved ones who completed the act of suicide. In conjunction with this event, the Youth Advisory Council was introduced, a proclamation was signed recognizing October as Suicide Prevention and Awareness month and a key note speaker shared her experience of her father’s death from suicide. We learned how important it is that we all work to fight against the stigma of depression and suicide.
The people assembled included family members and friends of suicide victims, helping professionals, students, educators, ministers, county and city officials, public health, volunteers from the community and concerned citizens. The group released balloons and butterflies symbolizing the passing of the individuals and honoring their memory. The balloons were just beautiful as they sailed high into the sky. It was a very moving and freeing experience.
The illness of Depression has as one of its most serious symptoms — that of suicide. Depression can be deadly. We all have been affected by the death of someone through the ending of their own life. It was a good experience to be able to acknowledge the seriousness of this action and also to understand that people who complete the act of suicide were very ill and that they are not their illness.
The Suicide Prevention Coalition is working very hard to continue to increase community awareness and make sure that people feeling suicidal have resources to turn to. Suicide is preventable.
Welcome to the Dublin-Laurens Suicide Prevention Coalition website. We meet at the Community Service Board of Middle Georgia in Building 5 (map)
